Industry veteran Mark Robinson named VP cruise operations at Scenic Group

Mark Robinson, who has more than 35 years’ experience within the cruise industry, joins Scenic Group as its new VP cruise operations, working across Scenic Cruises and Emerald Cruises.

He commented: ‘I am thrilled to be joining Scenic Group during this exciting period of growth and am looking forward to working closely with our award-winning teams onboard our vessels and ashore as we offer our guests a first-class luxury experience for which the Scenic Group is renowned.’ 

He will oversee the day-to-day operations of Scenic Group’s river and ocean yacht fleet, as well as direct the transitioning of the company’s new builds into operation. 

Reporting into chief operating officer, Rob Voss

Remarked Rob Voss, COO at Scenic Group who Robinson will report into, ‘As we continue to grow, we are keen to reinforce a strong and robust executive leadership team for cruise operations that can assist in the operational integrity of all our many programmes as well as support our strong guest-focused culture both onboard the vessels and ashore.

Recent roles 

Robinson’s most recent role was as chief commercial and operations officer at Cruise Saudi as the new destination embarked on developing global interest. Prior to this, the new member of Scenic’s executive team spent three years as chief commercial/head of business development at Global Port Holdings. 

His cruise and tourism experience includes 27 years with TUI & First Choice Group, where as CEO Robinson was involved in the start-up and growth of Intercruises Shoreside & Port Services, taking it from a single port operator to operating more than 500 ports globally. 

Robinson will moderate 'How COVID Has Changed Operations’ on April 26 at Seatrade Cruise Global.
