Katina Athanasiou joins Silversea as SVP sales

Katina Athanasiou, formerly of Norwegian Cruise Line, is joining Silversea Cruises as SVP sales.

She will drive sales strategy in the Americas across all channels, reporting to Mark Conroy, managing director, the Americas.

Athanasiou has 21 years of cruise industry experience, most recently as chief sales officer at NCL until leaving in June. Earlier, she was VP corporate, incentive and charter sales at Prestige Cruise Holdings. She also had a year in charter sales at Royal Caribbean International and spent six years in sales at Regent Seven Seas Cruises. 

Record of strong sales partnerships

Silversea's Barbara Muckermann, chief commercial officer, welcomed Athanasiou, stating she has a 'proven record of developing strong partnerships to deliver successful sales strategies, which will prove invaluable as we continue on our ambitious growth trajectory as part of the Royal Caribbean Group.'

Athanasiou expressed her delight in joining Silversea. 'With its aggressive shipbuilding program and leadership position in luxury and expedition cruising, this is an incredible time for our guests and travel advisor partners,' she said. 'I am thrilled to return to the luxury cruise space and look forward to engaging with all internal and external stakeholders to deliver and unlock deep, meaningful experiences in luxury travel.'
