In recent years the Miami-based company, with an additional location in Southampton, has had a special focus on housing solutions for the global migrant crisis, assisting governments such as Scotland's.

'There's so much need in the world right now and we're here to provide vessels as housing through our longstanding relationships with shipowners,' CEO Joyce Landry said. She added that can extend to support services with staffing, cultural activities, medical care, English classes and more.

Housing 3,000 Ukrainian refugees

Landry & Kling's work chartering two ships to house 3,000 Ukrainian refugees, including 800 children, recently was recognized for humanitarian efforts during the International Stability Operations Association 2024 Global Impact Awards Gala in Washington, DC.

Anticipating an influx of tens of thousands of Ukrainian refugees, the Scottish government was in dire need of solutions to a severe housing shortage. Landry & Kling deployed two vessels — the Ambassador Cruise Line's Ambition and the cruise ferry Victoria — to Edinburgh and Glasgow within two weeks. Over the next year and a half, thousands of Ukrainians would find safety, solace and community aboard both ships.

Landry & Kling’s mission was to fulfill the Scotland's 'Warm Scots Welcome Campaign,' providing meals, accommodation, trauma support, ESOL classes, job training and welfare for displaced Ukrainians. Each ship offered a comprehensive range of services, from housekeeping and laundry to three healthy and culturally appropriate meals daily, medical services, recreational facilities, 24/7 security and support services.

Mission of Innocents nonprofit

Living alongside displaced families, Joyce Landry, moved by the plight of the children, initiated and funded enrichment programs to support the children’s well-being and provide leadership opportunities for Ukrainian adults. The company’s philanthropic commitment to the children’s programs led to the formation of Mission of Innocents, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit.
