Mardi Gras fundraiser nets $22,000 for St. Jude

Passengers donated $21,600 to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital on board Mardi Gras during the ship's inaugural cruise.

Mardi Gras godmother Miss Dominican Republic Kimberly Jimenéz along with Miss Universe Andrea Meza of Mexico, Miss Puerto Rico Estefania Soto-Torres and Miss USA Asya Branch joined Cruise Director Mike Pack and Carnival Cruise Line President Christine Duffy today for the Groove for St. Jude.

$30m goal by 2025

'Along with welcoming our guests back on board, our restart allows us to get back to meeting our goal of raising $30 million by 2025 for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital,' Duffy said. 'We are proud to support such a worthy cause and even more proud of guests for opening their hearts and raising close to $22,000 for St. Jude in one day.'

Mardi Gras was named Oct. 23 at Port Canaveral festivities and has been sailing a Caribbean cruise this week.
