MSC Cruises hires Alka Thapar as New Zealand BDM

New Zealand travel industry veteran Alka Thapar is MSC Cruises’ new national business development manager.

Thapar has had extensive experience, working  for Globus, Hawaiian Airlines, Princess Cruises, Rail Plus and Air New Zealand.

In her new role she is to grow the MSC Cruises’ brand in the New Zealand market.

She will support existing partnerships and seek new business opportunities.

New Zealand commitment

‘Alka’s appointment reflects our commitment to furthering our presence and growth in the New Zealand market,’ AU/NZ Sales Manager Brigita Devries said.

‘With her proven track record and extensive network in the industry, we are confident that she will play a key role in enhancing our brand’s success,’ Devries said.

In 2010 she won the Neil Frazer Award for ‘outstanding contribution to the cruise industry,’ elevating her to CLIA Australasia’s hall of fame.

She has been the Australasia correspondent for Seatrade Cruise Review since 1997 and for Seatrade Insider (now Seatrade Cruise News) since its launch in 2000.
