Nicky Guerrero returning to former MedCruise role

Nicky Guerrero, MedCruise's secretary general from January-November 2023, will return to the position with immediate effect under its new president, Theodora Riga.

The decision was reached in consultation with the association’s new board of directors at the 65th MedCruise General Assembly, which took place in Malaga during the 2024 Seatrade Cruise Med.

The assembly also saw Riga, CCO and director of strategic communications at the Port of Thessaloniki, declared the association’s 2024-27 president. 

She said, ‘We are thrilled to be welcoming Nicky back to the association for another term as secretary general. 

‘On behalf of all the members of the board, we would like to thank Anja Lohrum, interim secretary general, for her service to MedCruise.’ 

Lohrum will revert to her previous role, as MedCruise's senior secretariat advisor, marketing and events management.

Guerrero, director of the International Cruise Summit held annually in Madrid, has extensive knowledge of the cruise and aviation industries. His experience includes being chief executive of the Gibraltar Tourist Board for more than two decades.

'I am honoured to be back and I look forward to working for the association for another term,' Guerrero told Seatrade Cruise. 'I will continue my role as conference director of the International Cruise Summit for 2024 and indeed, will be available to participate in other important cruise industry events as a moderator if required.'
