'Our people are who make our brand great, and I am so pleased that Nico is now a part of our talented team,' Azamara President Carol Cabezas told Seatrade Cruise News. 'The combination of his impressive experience and his people-centric approach make him a perfect fit with Azamara.'

Corbijn, who founded and owns Reveles Solutions, a maritime management consultancy based in South Florida, noted Azamara has benefited from the expertise and services provided by the Royal Caribbean Group marine and technical teams.

Now that Azamara is an independent company, that relationship will come to an end and the brand will build out its dedicated marine team under Corbijn, who reports to Cabezas.

V.Ships Leisure partnership

'We have partnered with V.Ships Leisure to assist us in the day-to-day operational support of our vessels, and I will be working closely with them to ensure we maintain our fleet to the highest standards all of our stakeholders have come to expect,' Corbijn said. He'll also be supporting the expansion of the Azamara fleet, initially with Azamara Onward and the technical aspects of its 2022 revitalization prior to entering service.

And Corbijn will be involved in driving Azamara’s future growth strategies.

Although he expects to expand the marine team, at this time the focus is on collaborating with the marine and technical teams of Royal Caribbean Group and V.Ships Leisure.

Vast experience

Corbijn brings vast cruise industry experience. Previously he was VP crew management at MSC Cruises, VP feet personnel at Norwegian Cruise Line and EVP operations at Windstar Cruises. Earlier, he spent 18 years with Holland America Line, first on the ships and ultimately serving as captain, and later, shoreside as director of environmental compliance.

He founded Reveles Solutions in 2016.

Corbijn said he was drawn to Azamara by the 'people and the team spirit that is evident throughout the company, both shipboard and shoreside. The overwhelming feedback I received when researching the company was extremely positive and highlighted Azamara’s family-oriented focus. I couldn’t think of a better place to work, and I am proud and honored to be part of Azamara.'
