Extraordinary brand, revolutionary vessel

'The brand is extraordinary. The history and legacy is unparalleled and this is an exciting extension to the sea,' Composto told Seatrade Cruise News. 'This new type of vessel will be completely revolutionary.'

Composto is a rare American on the Orient Express Silenseas team. The company plans global distribution.

'This experience is being designed with the luxury guest first and foremost,' she said, noting only a couple luxury hotel brands have entered the cruise arena  — Ritz-Carlton, Four Seasons and, now, Orient Express/Accor — so there's a spotlight on these.

No. 1 priority

Composto said her No. 1 priority will be building a sales and marketing team. To do that, there will be support resources from Orient Express and Accor.

Composto brings luxury experience from The Ritz-Carlton Yacht Collection, Crystal Cruises and Silversea Cruises.

She has start-up chops from bringing a luxury hotel brand to sea during four years as the first head of sales and marketing at The Ritz-Carlton Yacht Collection. Most recently Composto was VP marketing at American Queen Voyages.

She and her new boss, Mousset, share long-ago stints at Costa though they did not overlap.

Fluent in Italian with some Spanish, Composto said she looks forward to learning French and being part of the Orient Express team.

Orient Express Corinthian

The 120-passenger, sail-powered Orient Express Corinthian, under construction at Chantiers de l'Atlantique, is planned to debut in 2026.
