Ponant co-founder Jean-Emmanuel Sauvée is going to become chairman of the company's supervisory board following the recruitment of a new CEO.

François Pinault of Artemis Group, which acquired Ponant in 2015, is currently the supervisory chairman.

Ponant said Sauvée's responsibilities will become more strategic and less operational and, together with the owner, he'll be involved in the recruitment of his successor as CEO.

Global search

A recruiting firm has been engaged for the search, which will consider internal and external candidates globally and is expected to take several months.

Ponant is one of the few cruise companies that has taken delivery of ships during the pandemic — two, in fact. Hybrid electric/LNG-powered Le Commandant Charcot is scheduled to arrive in 2021.

Eight Ponant ships resumed operations with limited capacity over the summer.
