She will head marketing efforts globally, including digital, advertising and brand positioning, as well as the company’s global marketing strategy development and execution, reporting to Andreas Brynestad.

Perfect fit

'Kari’s extensive background and proven track record of success from luxury brands and the cruise industry makes her a perfect fit for our team and the SeaDream brand,' Brynestad said.

Since the pandemic, marketing has been overseen by a consultant. Tarnowski's VP role is a new one. She will have a team reporting to her.

AQV, Crystal, Regent, Silversea, Hotels.com

Tarnowski's more than 30 years of experience includes top marketing roles at American Queen Voyages, where she oversaw its rebranding as a multi-experience provider on the rivers, lakes and oceans; Crystal Cruises, Regent Seven Seas Cruises and Silversea, and she was part of the launch team for Hotels.com in 2002. Most recently she had a brief stint at Life at Sea Cruises.

'The joy of cruising, for me, is in yachting,' Tarnowski said. 'Small-ship experiences where the crew know your name and your favorite drink on the first day. Nothing can match the unique experience like that.'

Tarnowski’s appointment closely follows that of Bob Becker as VP guest development and the exit of Walter Littlejohn, who was chief sales officer for a short run, as earlier reported here.
