SVP John Delaney departs Lindblad Expeditions (updated)
John Delaney, who's served as SVP global sales at Lindblad Expeditions since last September, left the company.
June 26, 2023
Delaney was hired to lead travel advisor, group, charter and wholesale sales efforts, including international sales, and to develop new capabilities in revenue management. He reported to Chief Commercial Officer Noah Brodsky.
He was involved in the implementation of Versonix Seaware, was rolling out an Expedition 360 travel advisor support program and hired new sales VPs.
Appreciation for Delaney
'We are thankful to John Delaney for his work during his tenure at Lindblad Expeditions and we wish him well in his future endeavors,' a company spokesperson said.
The search for a replacement has begun; candidates may apply at www.expeditions.com/careers.
Sven Lindblad returns as CEO
Delaney's departure follows the announcement that CEO Dolf Berle would be leaving effective June 30 to pursue a noncompetitive opportunity in the Dallas area. With that, Lindblad founder and Co-chair Sven-Olof Lindblad returned as CEO. He had been CEO since starting the company in 1979 until 2021 when Berle joined.
'I have great respect for Sven and Lindblad as a company, but it became apparent quickly that Sven and I have very different philosophies when it comes to revenue management and I decided to leave so that he could find the right revenue management leader that aligns with his strategy,' Delaney said. 'I wish the entire team at Lindblad continued success.'
Before Lindblad, Delaney served as Windstar Cruises president from 2016 to 2020. Earlier he was SVP global marketing & sales for Seabourn, VP revenue marketing for Holland America Line and director of special projects for Carnival Corp.
