Tom Brady, most recently with Silversea Cruises, and Joseph Mujwit, formerly of Royal Caribbean Group, signed on with Vikand Solutions, a maritime medical operations and public health provider.

Brady is VP global partner relationships, and Mujwit is director of risk management & environmental solutions.

Tom Brady

'Many of us had the pleasure of working with Tom during the early stages of the incredibly challenging COVID-19 outbreak in March and April with vessels in South America. Through this complex experience we developed a mutual respect, trust and appreciation,' Vikand CEO Peter Hult said. 'Tom’s extensive cruise experience — including time on board ships and executive roles on land — translates to his placing a high value on the importance of the engaged medical and public health support that Vikand provides.'

Brady previously was VP hotel operations at Silversea, including managing the integration team between Royal Caribbean and Silversea after the Royal acquisition. Before that, he served as corporate director of operational excellence for Celebrity Cruises and had direct involvement in the fleet's modernization.

Earlier jobs were at a number of hotels in cities including Chicago and San Francisco, primarily with Hyatt, overseeing corporate and property hotel operations.

'I’m tremendously enthusiastic to be joining the Vikand team. As a former client, I have direct experience with Vikand’s highest level of support and dedication from its medical team,' Brady said. 'In my new role, I can provide this same level of service, supporting our clients and partners with the strong and holistic health and medical programs that have garnered Vikand its best-in-class reputation.'

Silversea has no immediate plans to fill Brady's position, with SVP Damien O’Connor currently handling his duties.

Joseph Mujwit

Mujwit has more than 20 years of experience in environmental, health and safety areas and is a certified safety professional. He was director of environmental compliance at both Royal Caribbean Group and Carnival Cruise Line. Mujwit has built audit, protocols and training programs for fleet environmental officers and coordinated with government officials at federal and international levels. He also oversaw Carnival's initial sustainability and corporate responsibility report.

Mujwit's Vikand role focuses on establishing sound risk management practices that reduce the impact of injuries and illnesses and their associated costs. He leads the environmental consultancy, providing sustainable environmental operational compliance and best practices for clients in the maritime and yachting industries.

'Joe’s experience in risk management, crew and guest safety programs and environmental compliance allows Vikand to expand support for our clients in order to assist maritime industries at large, promoting the safety and health of guests and crew while containing associated costs,' Hult said. 'Joe’s extensive environmental knowledge increases Vikand’s ability to advise clients on their commitment to environmentally responsible and sustainable voyaging.'

'We are in a great position to help cruise clients and the yacht and commercial maritime industries rebound from the pandemic and return to healthy, safe and environmentally sustainable operations,' Mujwit said. 'I look forward to expanding our services in all marine sectors.'
