This role serves as the primary Vikand executive supporting cruise line clients with the aim of delivering patient-centric, high quality, safe medical care with professionalism and compassion while managing and supporting on-board medical teams.

'The manager of shipboard medical operations works closely with Vikand's clients to ensure they receive effective support to ensure compliance and meeting their needs in this acutely dynamic time, always with a focus on risk mitigation,' Vikand CEO Peter Hult said. 'In this role, Tony Vieira proactively assists with medical issues experienced by guests, crew and on-board medical facilities.'

17 years of diversified nursing experience

Vieira has 17 years of diversified nursing experience including emergency medicine, ICU, pediatrics, obstetrics, imaging, forensic medicine, palliative care and pre-hospital emergency care. He has spent more than four years at sea as senior nurse with Princess Cruises and P&O Australia.

For the last 18 months, Viera worked for Carnival Cruise Line as supervisor of medical facilities. His responsibilities included reviewing and standardizing medical equipment, pharmaceuticals, supplies, medical center infrastructures and, most recently, reviewing and co-developing policies and procedures to facilitate the preparedness of vessels to return to normal operations.
