Variety Cruises Co-founder Dimitris Vassilakis was appointed Honorary Consul of Lithuania in a ceremony held onboard Variety Voyager last month.

Greece’s Minister of Maritime Affairs and Island Policy Giannis Plakiotakis, Lithuania’s Minister of Internal Affairs Agne Bilotaite, Ambassador of Lithuania to Greece Lina Skerstonaite and other officials attended the event on February 23.

Strong ties between the two countries

‘This is a great honour for me personally but also for Variety Cruises,’ said Vassilakis. ‘Our relationship with Lithuania has always been a strong one and we are working towards an even stronger one between the two countries.’

A ‘great moment’ for Variety

‘We are extremely proud of Mr Vassilakis and we are confident that he will succeed in his new role,’ said Variety Cruises CEO Filippos Venetopoulos. ‘This is a great moment for Variety Cruises also, as community building is at the core of the company’s DNA as we always strive to go deeper into the communities we visit, and we look forward to exploring ways in which we can build more bridges with Lithuania and its people.’
