Saverimuttu, part of the founding team of Virgin Voyages, drafted the company’s initial business plan.

Inaugural season

His appearance at Cruise360 Australasia foreshadows Virgin’s inaugural season in Australia, with Resilient Lady arriving in Sydney on December 4.

Saverimuttu will discuss the increasing diversity of experiences offered in cruising and what this means for travel advisors.

‘With Australia and New Zealand set to welcome multiple new cruise brands this summer, Nirmal Saverimuttu will provide a well-timed fresh perspective that will help agents see new opportunities in local markets,’ Joel Katz, MD of Cruise Lines International Association Australasia, said.

New member

Meantime, CLIA Australasia welcomed Captain Cook Cruises Fiji as a regional cruise line member to help build its presence in the Australian and New Zealand markets.

Katz said the addition of Captain Cook Cruises Fiji helps highlight the growing significance of small-ship cruising within the global industry.

He said the company will take part in CLIA’s extensive travel agent training and events programme, including Cruise360 Australasia 2023.
