At the Beach Club in Bimini, 457 Virgin Voyages passengers in vibrant mermaid tails set the Guinness World Record for the largest gathering of merpeople.

The Nov. 4 event included music, makeup, 'shelfies,' a few stadium-style waves and Champagne showers once the adjudicator announced the record was official. The previous record was a gathering of 378 merpeople set in the UK in June.

Part of Valiant Lady's first PortMiami voyage

The Bimini event was part of Valiant Lady's 'mermaiden' voyage from its new winter home, PortMiami. Sailors (passengers) were invited to take part in the world record attempt and mermaid beauty pageants onboard and at the Beach Club.

First Honduras call

Virgin's second ship made its Miami debut Oct. 30 before departing for Cozumel, Bimini and Roatán, the first time the brand has called at Honduras. There, the ship was greeted with celebrations and music.

Valiant Lady will be sailing on six- and eight-night cruises to the Caribbean and Mexico through April.

Promotions

November also marks the brand’s first Eat & Drink Month, with every cabin receiving a $300 bar tab. In addition, a 'Dreamy Getaway' promotion offers a 25% discount and a bar tab bonus on 2022 and 2023 sailings.
