Zanetti moves up to Costa president, Alberti to chief commercial officer
Costa Cruises promoted Mario Zanetti to president, with Roberto Alberti taking over his Zanetti's chief commercial officer role.
March 24, 2021
Zanetti assumes the position that had been temporarily filled, since July, by Michael Thamm, group CEO, Costa Group & Carnival Asia.
Alberti will be responsible for overall operations, including sales, revenue management and marketing worldwide, reporting to Zanetti.
Both will be based in Costa's Genoa headquarters.
Ready to restart with renewed energy, greater customer-centric approach
'The pause in our ship operations has been an opportunity to work on enhancing the Costa organization to make our company stronger, ready for the restart with renewed energy, a clear commercial strategy and a greater customer-centric approach,' Thamm said. 'We look to the future with optimism. With this new organization we have the right people and skills to succeed in developing innovative strategies to attract and retain our customers through every channel and every source market.'
Zanetti joined Costa in 1999 in revenue management. In 2017 he was named president of Costa Asia, turning the business around there. Since July, he has been back in Genoa as chief commercial officer for Costa Europe.
Roberto Alberti
Alberti's Costa career spans more than 15 years. He worked his way up through positions of increasing responsibility in Italy and abroad. In 2016 he joined the CEO office, reporting to Thamm. After serving as VP strategic development, in 2019 he was appointed SVP and chief strategy officer for Costa Group, contributing to the creation of a sustainable development plan, the global source market strategy and brand positioning.
