'Ventures by Seabourn' brings expert-led Zodiac, kayak excursions

'Ventures by Seabourn' is a new series of Zodiac and kayak shore excursions offering in-depth ways for passengers to experience destinations. The program will begin this summer on three northern Europe cruises aboard Seabourn Quest, and will feature excursions launching directly from the ship's fold-out water sports marina.

'Ventures by Seabourn' optional excursions will be guided by knowledgeable and experienced expedition teams of scientists, scholars and naturalists. Already adept at engaging passengers via the Seabourn Conversations on-board enrichment program, the experts will now provide in-depth insights into the history, ecology, wildlife and culture during explorations of destinations close up, and at sea level.

Tour leaders include Dr. Colleen Batey, a senior lecturer in archaeology at the University of Glasgow, Scotland, who has traveled extensively through Scandinavia and its surrounding areas, and Kara Weller, whose research ranges from whales in the Bering Sea to mouflan sheep in eastern Europe, and has traveled over 130 times to Antarctica.

Other leaders are Luciano Bernacchi, whose travels to many destinations and wilderness areas around the world have led to a wealth of experience in adventure travel and ecotourism, and Matt J. Dolan, who kayaked the entire Inside Passage from Seattle to Muir Glacier in Glacier Bay National Park, Alaska—more than 1,300 miles. Robin West is Seabourn's manager of expedition operations & planning, who led the line's first two Antarctica programs and has tremendous experience expedition operations.

Available in select ports, 'Ventures by Seabourn' will lead participants through picturesque waterways and fjords, secluded inlets and to scenic islands via Zodiac inflatable boats or paddling in double sea kayaks launched from the fold-out water sports marina on board all Seabourn vessels.

'Ventures by Seabourn' are to be expanded fleetwide over time, including adding kayaking tours to Antarctica sailings.
