AAPA Legislative Summit kicks off with Pete Buttigieg keynote

The American Association of Port Authorities' Legislative Summit kicks off today in Washington, DC with a keynote address by US Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg.

Further speakers include Mitch Landrieu, White House senior advisor for infrastructure implementation, giving an update on the implementation of the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act.

Larry Hogan, Daniel Maffei, Stan McChrystal

Maryland Gov. Larry Hogan will address the national benefit and economic impact of infrastructure stimulus. Daniel Maffei, chairman of the Federal Maritime Commission, will speak on 'America’s Ports: The Supply Chain’s Fall Guy.' And Stan McChrystal, retired four-star general, will talk about risk and mastering the unknown.

This year, the Legislative Summit's first day is devoted to the bipartisan Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act, honing in on how ports can best take advantage of the funds the bill provides and next steps including the ways ports can be safer, more efficient, greener and better connected to achieve global competitiveness. The second day will focus on  what needs to be built and how to ensure resiliency and sustainability for the next generation.

On the third day, attendees will have group meetings with congressional policymakers and federal agencies on Capitol Hill.
