The AIDA Cruises vessel arrived at Cagliari Cruise Port on February 23 carrying 800 cruise passengers of mainly German nationality. They ventured through Sardinia on excursions conducted on foot, by bus and by bike visiting Villasimius and the archaeological remains of Nora.

A further 24 calls are expected at Cagliari from the German source market operated by AIDA Cruises, TUI Cruises, Marella Cruises and Phoenix Reisen.

Remarked Antonio Di Monte, general manager, Cagliari Cruise Port, ‘...the restart officially begins: we are ready to give our best by offering new services to cruise lines and the utmost experiences to their passengers, keeping our fingers crossed so that, finally, nothing stops us anymore. We deserve it, after all.’

120 calls planned

Cagliari Cruise Port expects to receive 120 calls during the 2022 season bringing a combined 200,000 cruise passengers. Among these are Virgin Voyages’ newest addition, Valiant Lady, which will make 11 calls at the Global Ports Holding-operated port.

Costa Cruises, with its 33 calls and around 100,000 passengers, will again be the port’s main customer.

Continued Di Monte, ‘This important schedule and the interesting news planned for this year demonstrate Cagliari Cruise Port's commitment to promoting the city of Cagliari and the territory of South Sardinia… a destination that is still little known but with a lot to offer.’
