The vessel, which arrived from Kiel, will operate one-week cruises to Western Europe calling Southampton, Cherbourg, Zeebrugge and Rotterdam. In total, the ship will call at Hamburg seven times, with the itinerary concluding in April when AIDAcosma’s naming ceremony takes place.

Naming ceremony 

AIDAcosma’s naming ceremony will take place April 9 with Kristian Vogel, a successful German track cyclist, named godmother. 

Following the ceremony, the ship will embark on a 14-day repositioning cruise to Palma de Mallorca, arriving at the Spanish destination April 23.

Spring and summer will see the ship operating in the Mediterannean out of Palma and Barcelona; it will homeport in Dubai for the next winter season.

Design

AIDAcosma is an almost identical version of its sister ship AIDAnova in terms of design and technology, however differences exist between the two in regard to interior design and how spaces are utilised.

AIDA Cruises describes the Ocean Deck on the new vessel – which extends over four decks and has vast space for sunbathing and relaxing – as a key highlight, along with a new fun park with a sizeable indoor playground. The extended open deck spaces onboard are testament to the ship being created with sailings in warm weather in mind.

Culinary options are enriched by the new Beach House Restaurant offering light meals. The Mamma Mia specialty restaurant is also a new addition, serving homemade pasta and fresh Italian cuisine.

The Mystery Room, which appears onboard AIDAnova, has been dropped on AIDAcosma.

Both vessels are equipped with dual fuel engines tailored to LNG use.
