An expanded beachfront, more lunch spots and bars are coming to the renamed Relaxaway, Half Moon Cay as the shared private island of Carnival Cruise Line and Holland America Line.

The sister brands are partnering on the enhancements, which include new facilities on the north side — where the pier that can take Carnival Excel-class ships is going in — and on the existing south side.

Passengers will arrive at distinct welcome plazas at each side, spanning over one mile of white-sand beach.

The upgrades are designed with nature in mind, including architecture that fits with the landscape.

New north side features

The newly developed part of the island will include two lunch venues and a variety of island-themed bars. A new shore excursion pier will connect cruisers with recreational activities.

South end touch-up

The existing development on the south side will get a Bahamian touch-up, a new beach club, an updated lunch venue and renovated facilities.

There will also be a new tram service.

In addition, lounging areas will be expanded and cabanas added.

'Holland America guests have loved Half Moon Cay for its natural beauty since it opened as a port of call in 1997,' new HAL President Beth Bodensteiner said. 'The south side of the island, where Holland America has always visited, will remain the secluded paradise our guests are accustomed to and a marquee destination for almost every cruise visiting the Caribbean.'

Bodensteiner said the new beach club and refreshed food and beverage spaces 'embrace and preserve the island’s pristine beauty.'

'Calling this piece of paradise RelaxAway, Half Moon Cay reinforces our commitment to preserve the attributes that make the destination so appealing as we expand access and welcome more guests ... ' Carnival President Christine Duffy said.

She noted many itineraries in 2026 and beyond will feature both Relaxaway and Celebration Key.

Summer 2026 target

Enhancements will begin to be completed by summer 2026 and continue through the end of the year.

Further details are expected in the coming months.
