Atlantic Canada nudges closer to 1m cruisers
Atlantic Canada cruise ports hosted nearly 903,000 passengers on more than 600 calls in a banner 2023 season.

The calls were a 28% increase over 2022, according to the Atlantic Canada Cruise Association.
Some 868,938 passengers visited Charlottetown, Corner Brook, Halifax, Saint John and Sydney, while the region's niche ports talllied more than 34,000 passengers.
Record increases
The 2023 season saw exceptional performances, including record-breaking activity at the Port of Sydney, with a 74% increase in passengers and the Port of Corner Brook, with a 58% increase, both over 2022.
Summer calls blossom
Across the region, April to August cruise passenger visitation grew from 157,454 (2022) to 235,962 (2023).
While economic impact numbers for the 2023 season are pending, the Atlantic Canada Cruise Association said cruise tourism plays a 'critical' role in the region's overall tourism, with pre-pandemic numbers indicating an impact of over 2,000 jobs and $347m to the economy.
Digital marketing campaign
In an effort to elevate Atlantic Canada's status as a premier cruise destination, the Atlantic Canada Cruise Association is launching a digital campaign to ensure the region remains at the forefront of people's minds as they plan future vacations.
