As reported here, ACA 2021 was to have been held at The Ville Resort-Casino in Townsville on September 8-10.

New dates

The new dates are November 10-12, at the same venue, with the same keynote speakers.

‘We are committed to holding our conference so that we can keep the conversations and energy going around planning for the cruise restart,’ ACA CEO Jill Abel said.

‘We felt these new dates gave us more certainty around being able to hold the event this year,’ Abel said.

Townsville’s channel upgrade

Meanwhile, one of the speakers, Sture Myrmell, president of Carnival Australia and P&O Cruises Australia, applauded the news that stage one of Townsville’s channel upgrade has been completed.

Myrmell described the project as a positive investment for the future.

‘The ambitious Townsville project, combined with other infrastructure initiatives, such as the new Brisbane International Cruise Terminal underwritten by Carnival Australia and the dredging of Trinity Inlet in Cairns, means that Queensland is ideally placed to make the most of the recovery of cruise tourism.'
