Jill Abel said border closures have put paid to this year’s conference
The Australian Cruise Association’s 2021 annual general meeting and conference that was to have been held in Townsville in November has been cancelled due to ongoing state border closures caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.

Originally slated for September 8-10, the conference was moved to November 10-12.

Virtual meeting November 12

There will now be a virtual annual general meeting on November 12 and the 2022 annual conference is set for September 7-9 at The Ville Resort-Casino in Townsville.

‘We were hopeful that the border openings would be further advanced to allow us to meet the November dates, but we are not confident that will now be the case,’ ACA CEO Jill Abel said.

Cruise-ready workshops

‘We are looking at holding a series of cruise-ready workshops in the early part of next year,’ Abel said.

‘We are increasingly confident that domestic cruising will start to build by that time and it will give us the opportunity to re-connect with our members.'
