Various elements of the plan are also being accelerated to accommodate the competitors and spectators at next year's America's Cup match races, taking place from August to October 2024, shortly after the Paris Olympics.
Changes at Terminal Sud
When Valiant Lady returns to Barcelona from its seven-night Mediterranean cruise, it will dock at the nearby Terminal Sud. This building will later also be repurposed.
Other elements of the port's strategy include electrification of its piers for shore power, and encouragement for the adoption of LNG and other clean power sources for cruise vessel propulsion.
