‘We will be seeing more large ships like Odyssey of the Seas in Bodrum waters from next year,’ asserted Aziz Güngör, Global Ports Holding Eastern Mediterranean ports director. ‘Bodrum is on its way to becoming a very important cruise destination.’
The majority of the mainly American, British and German passengers visited Bodrum's old town and bazaars on foot. Other passengers took tour buses to archaeological sites, such as St. Peter Castle and the 600-year-old Sandima Village. Jeep safari, Turkish bath and beach club opportunities were also available.
More cruise ships than ever before
In the first seven months of 2022, Bodrum ranked third after Kuşadası and Istanbul in terms of the number of cruise ships and passengers received. It has invested heavily in port facilities, including the construction of a terminal building and pier, and has Green Port status. The port is also home to a variety of amenities, offering duty free shopping areas, travel agencies, restaurants and cafes.
