A call from Celebrity Infinity marked the start of the cruise season in Thessaloniki, a MedCruise member port.

Representatives from the region of Central Macedonia, Thessaloniki Tourism Organization and Thessaloniki Port Authority welcomed the first cruise passengers, offering them useful material about the destination and traditional local sweets.

The same ship kicked off Thessaloniki’s 2024 cruise season.

‘The Port of Thessaloniki offers the advantage of being a homeport in the heart of a unique destination, with direct access to global landmarks,’ said executive chairman of the BoD of Thessaloniki Port Authority, Athanasios Liagkos.

‘The continuous enhancement of the services and infrastructure of ThPA S.A. solidifies the trust of the cruise companies that choose it, promoting Thessaloniki and the wider region as an ideal cruise destination.’

He added, ‘A typical example for 2025 is Crystal Cruises, which includes Thessaloniki as a homeport in the itineraries of Crystal Symphony, as part of its commitment to offer exceptional experiences to its passengers.’

Overnight calls

Celebrity Infinity, sailing at high occupancy, will stay overnight in the Greek city and depart on February 5. Thessaloniki is scheduled to receive 21 calls from the vessel this year, including eight overnight calls.

It is the third consecutive year that Celebrity Cruises has included Thessaloniki in its itineraries.

Cruise in Thessoloniki

Thessaloniki’s cruise industry continues to develop: 20 vessels from 14 cruise lines have the destination in their itineraries, including 10 ships expected to call at the Port of Thessaloniki for the first time. Among them, Viking Cruises’ Viking Star on February 6, as well as Astoria Grande, Emerald Cruises and Ritz Carlton Yacht Collection.
