Continuing as vice chairman is Eduardo Arancibia, VP of the Port of Puerto Montt board.

Other board members include Juan Marcos Mancilla, logistics manager, Port of Valparaíso, as second vice president; Rodrigo Pommiez, general manager of Empresa Portuaria Austral, as treasurer; and Fernando Gajardo, manager of concessions for San Antonio Port, as secretary.

Runin thanked the Conosur members for their trust in him and congratulated the outgoing board of directors, headed by Pommiez, for their 'great work carried out during the last year that will form the basis for future endeavors.'

Aim to increase cruise arrivals

Runin plans to put forward initiatives related to legislation, national regulations, port and destination development, promotional activities and the national and international positioning of Conosur — all intended to increase cruise arrivals to Chile so the country can top the past season's calls and passenger numbers.

Conosur's mission is to position Chile and its ports as a preferred destination for the global cruise market. Members include the ports of Arica, Iquique, Antofagasta, Coquimbo, Valparaíso, San Antonio, Talcahuano-San Vicente, Puerto Montt y Castro, Chacabuco and Punta Arenas (including Puerto Natales and Puerto Williams) as well as Inchcape Shipping Services, Terminal Pacífico Sur and tour operator DMC Chile.
