China’s Prince Bay Cruise Port to welcome first call in November
China’s Prince Bay Cruise Port is set to welcome its first cruise ship call on November 13 this year, after construction works are due to complete by September.
Silversea’s Silver Shadow is also scheduled to visit the Chinese cruise port in January 2017.
Prince Bay Cruise Port, located in Shekou at the southern tip of Shenzhen city and currently under construction led by China Merchants Group, is aiming to become an international cruise port for China.
Once it fully opens, the cruise port will boast one 220,000-gt berth, one 50,000-gt berth, one 10,000-gt berth, and twelve 800-gt berths for high-speed ferries.
The main building of Prince Bay Cruise Port spanning 13,600sq mtr will also feature duty-free retail shops, restaurants and cafes, and office spaces.
In May this year, the China National Tourism Administration designated Prince Bay Cruise Port as the national pilot cruise tourism zone as part of a nation-wide effort to promote and develop the cruise industry.
