Ferraz, the regional lead for Cruise Lines International Association, met with Sernatur National Director Cristóbal Benítez; Leonardo Latorre, who heads the development and investment division at the Undersecretariat of Tourism; and Conosur President Eduardo Arancibia and Executive Secretary Eric Petri.

Regional cooperation

According to Arancibia, this was a 'very positive' meeting as it helped strengthen ties with the largest international cruise association globally, addressed several issues and resulted in the agreement to work in a collaborative and coordinated manner to promote regional cruising.

The same day Ferraz also met with Gonzalo Frigerio, who represents Chile's Ministry of Transportation at the International Maritime Organization.

Port visits

Ferraz will be touring the port facilities at San Antonio, Valparaíso, Puerto Montt, Punta Arenas and Puerto Williams, and talking with regional and maritime authorities and executives from state port companies and terminal concessionaires.

CLIA reported 996,000 passengers cruised in South America in 2023, a 6.6% increase compared to pre-pandemic 2019. Last year's global cruise count was 31.7m.
