Select attendees were given a tour of the ship at the terminal, with briefings on Costa's environmentally friendly policies, including measures to reduce food waste and optimise water consumption while implementing strict anti-COVID-19 health protocols.

Costa Firenze is the fourth of the line's 11 vessels to resume operations after Costa Smeralda, Costa Luminosa and Costa Deliziosa.

Chinese source market

The ship was originally intended to serve the Chinese source market, reflected in extensive Mandarin-language signage throughout, as well as extra-capacity casino facilities.

Design

The vessel houses 13 restaurants, each comprising an outside terrace, along with eight bars.

Costa Firenze is currently operating at around 50% passenger capacity, ramping up gradually to ensure smooth implementation of pandemic-related procedures.

Barcelona port

From resumption of cruise operations on June 26 through August 31, the Port of Barcelona received 63 cruise vessel calls, carrying 114,000 passengers, including 77,000 in transit.

Four more cruise vessels were docked in Barcelona during Costa Firenze's visit.
