Costa Firenze to sail Arabian Gulf winter 2021/22; Costa sponsors Italy pavilion at Dubai Expo

Costa Firenze, delivered in December and sailing a debut summer Mediterranean season, will afterward reposition to Dubai next winter offering weeklong Arabian Gulf cruising from December 17 until mid-March 2022.

Tied in with the deployment announcement, Costa Cruises signed an agreement with the commissioner for Italy at Expo Dubai 2020 to be a gold sponsor of the Italian Pavilion.

The agreement was signed Thursday in Civitavecchia on board Costa Smeralda by Costa President Mario Zanetti and Commissioner Paolo Glisenti, in the presence of the UAE ambassador in Italy, Omar Obaid Alshamsi.

The event saw the participation of the artist Annalisa.

‘We are really proud to be part of the Italy Pavilion at Expo 2020 Dubai, which is another tangible and concrete sign of the restart of Italian tourism and economy,’ said Zanetti.

Expo Dubai, which opens October 1, will be a 'meeting place for discussions on crucial issues for the future, such as the development of sustainable and inclusive tourism, on which our company intends to act as example for the entire sector, creating value for the local economies in our destinations, under the banner of innovation, respect for cultures and for the environment,’ added Zanetti.

Commissioner Glisenti commented, ‘In the Italy Pavilion, dedicated to our country that over the centuries and still today sails towards new lands of knowledge and culture, we will welcome the many cruise tourists who will join us.’

Costa Firenze’s weeklong cruises will visit the United Arab Emirates, Qatar and Oman, with calls at Abu Dhabi, Doha, Muscat and a multi-day-long stop in Dubai. Specific packages to allow visits to the Italy Pavilion and the Expo will be available for guests.

Costa Firenze will make its first voyage July 4, with an all-Italy itinerary that includes Savona, Civitavecchia, Palermo, Naples, Messina and Cagliari. 

From September 12 until mid-October, the ship will offer one-week international cruises, calling Savona, Civitavecchia, Naples, Ibiza, Barcelona and Marseilles.

Costa Firenze is due to move to Asia in October to join sister Costa Venezia.
