Cruise & Golf packages extended to Costa Toscana’s winter Arabian Gulf sailings
Costa’s Cruise & Golf packages – which enabled golf enthusiasts sailing onboard Costa Smeralda the chance to play the sport at clubs in the Western Mediterranean – will be extended to Costa Toscana’s 2022/23 winter cruises in the Emirates and Oman.
It means Costa Toscana passengers will be able to golf at a different location at each port of call.
In winter 2022/23, Costa Toscana offers a one-week itinerary in the Arab Emirates and Oman, available with a fly-cruise package, which includes two-day, one-night stops in Dubai, Muscat and Abu Dhabi.
From autumn 2022 and throughout 2023, Costa Smeralda offers one-week itineraries in the Western Mediterranean, calling Savona, Italy, Marseille, France, Barcelona, Spain, Palma de Mallorca (Ibiza in summer), Spain, Palermo, Italy and Civitavecchia/Rome, Italy.
Golf clubs
Passengers will be able to play golf at night owing to Costa Toscana’s longer stays in port.
In Dubai, it will be possible to choose the Emirates Golf Club, home to the annual Dubai Desert Classic, an 18-hole course that measures 6,676mtr and winds its way through hundreds of species of indigenous flora and fauna, seven lakes and a view of the Dubai skyline or The Els Club, designed by US Open and Open Championship winner Ernie Els which was home to the Asian Tour.
The 27-hole Abu Dhabi Golf Club has been home to the Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship for 16 consecutive years, while the Yas Links Golf Club hosted the Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship in 2022.
In Muscat, Oman the Almouj Golf Club – designed by Greg Norman and home of the Oman Open – faces the Indian Ocean, with the Hajar Mountains in the background. The Ghala Golf Club is Oman's oldest and most renowned club, and has hosted the Oman National Championships since the 1970s and the MENA Tour for the past four years.
Costa Smeralda
Additional golf clubs have been added for Costa Smeralda, including the Circolo del Golf Roma Acquasanta, the Golf Club Genova Sant'Anna, which has hosted two Italian Double Professional Championships and was designed by Robert Von Hagge, one of the world's most famous golf course architects, Club de Golf Terramar Sitges, one of the oldest golf clubs in Spain, located 20mtr from the sea, the Son Gual Golf in Palma de Mallorca and the T-Golf Calvia, one of the oldest courses on the island of Majorca.
Group bookings
Additional golf clubs are available for groups, such as the Argentario Golf Club, designed by architect David Mezzacane and professional golfer Baldovino Dassù, the Golf Nazionale, the technical centre of the Italian Golf Federation, the PGA de Catalunya, and the Son Vida, the oldest club in Mallorca, twice host to the European Tour.
