‘Disney Cruise Line's visit to Hamburg will be an absolute highlight in the coming year, and we will do our best to support the cruise line leading up to the sailing to offer guests an unforgettable travel experience to our city,’ remarked Simone Maraschi, an MD at Cruise Gate Hamburg (CGH).

‘The collaboration not only underlines Hamburg's strong commitment to the cruise industry, but also the broad support that Hamburg as a cruise destination offers to cruise lines,’ Maraschi added.

Follows meetings at Seatrade Cruise Global

Representatives of Cruise Gate Hamburg attended Seatrade Cruise Global in Fort Lauderdale in March where they met with Disney Cruise Line leaders and other cruise lines to discuss opportunities for calls in Hamburg.

‘We are very pleased to have secured a visit from Disney Cruise Line, one of the most popular cruise brands, during the Seatrade Cruise Global conference,’ noted Maraschi, ‘This is a big win for CGH and for Hamburg as a tourist destination.’

Michael Otremba, MD, Hamburg Tourismus, also welcomed the outcome, adding, ‘We are delighted that, with excellent teamwork and within the framework of Seatrade Cruise Global, we have succeeded in putting Hamburg on the map with the players in the cruise industry.’

Otremba, Maraschi and fellow Hamburg Cruise Gate MD Iris Scheel, as well as Hamburg Port Authority CEO Jens Meier attended the event in Florida.

Seatrade Europe in September

This September, Hamburg will host two events dedicated to the cruise industry: Seatrade Europe from September 6-8 followed by Hamburg Cruise Days from September 8-10.

Port’s ambitions

Hamburg aims to install shore power at all of its permanent cruise terminals by 2025, five years earlier than stipulated by the European Union as part of its Fit for 55 programme.
