Two new dates have been added to Emerald Cruises Christmas market sailings, where passengers visit Budapest, Vienna and Cologne
Additional 2023 dates have been announced for three of Emerald’s most popular river cruises, with the operator citing heightened demand.

The extended programme relates to Christmas market sailings and cruises on the Douro River.

Christmas markets

The eight-day Christmas Market on the Rhine sails between Amsterdam and Basel, visiting Cologne, Koblenz, Heidelberg, Strasbourg and Breisach for visits to some of the most iconic Christmas markets. Prices start from £2,260 per person onboard Emerald Sun departing December 16, 2023.

The 11-day Christmas Markets on the Danube with Prague departs November 21, 2023, and journeys between the Czech Republic’s capital – for sights of the Astrological Clock and Charles Bridge – and Budapest.

The special festive twist on Emerald Cruises classic itinerary along the Danube also allows for exploration of Budapest and Vienna’s architecture, before entering the traditional Christmas markets of Regensburg and Passau.

Prices start from £2,890 per person onboard Emerald Destiny departing November 21, 2023.

The Douro

Sailing round-trip from Porto, the eight-day ‘Secrets of the Douro’ calls at Régua, Pocinho, Pinhão and Salamanca. Two new sailings have been added for the itinerary, departing November 18 and November 25, with prices starting from £2,415 per person sailing on board Emerald Radiance.

Highlights include an onboard cookery demonstration with a local Portuguese chef while sailing to Pinhão, where passengers can kayak along the river; a visit to the 18th century vineyard estate in Quinta do Tedo for local tuna music during a guided tour of Salamanca; and a cocktail-making lesson before arriving in Régua, where passengers will take dinner at Quinta da Pacheca wine estate; Porto’s medieval harbour by twilight.
