Emerald Luna sets sail on maiden voyage from Amsterdam
Emerald Cruises' ninth Star-Ship, Emerald Luna, began its maiden voyage last weekend from the Port of Amsterdam.
The 180-passenger vessel departed the Netherlands on April 9 as it began an eight-day Holland and Belgium river cruise. The ship's naming is scheduled to take place in July.
Follows launch of Emerald Azzurra
‘Emerald Luna marks a new, exciting addition to our growing fleet, following closely from last month’s launch of our first-ever ocean-going superyacht, Emerald Azzurra,’ said David Winterton, global director of brand & marketing, Emerald Cruises.
Winterton went on to describe sales for Emerald’s cruises this year, noting, ‘While bookings remain strong for this spring and summer, and with Europe continuing to be a popular destination for both new-to-cruise and loyal guests, the launch of Emerald Luna allows more opportunity for our trusted agent partners to sell experiences on Europe’s rivers …’
Emerald Luna’s launch comes as the line celebrates its eighth year of operations and the recommencement of its 2022 Europe river cruises.
Design features
The vessel comprises spacious suites and staterooms with decked areas and an open-air system, a three-tier atrium and a heated swimming pool that transforms into a cinema.
It is designed to dock in the heart of cities, town and villages along the rivers of central Europe.

Emerald Luna will join sister Star-Ships Emerald Sun, Emerald Sky, Emerald Star, Emerald Dawn and Emerald Destiny sailing the Rhine, Main, Moselle and Danube rivers.
Emerald Liberté sails the Rhône and Saône Rivers in France, Emerald Radiance traverses the Douro River in Portugal and Emerald Harmony ventures along the Mekong River in Vietnam and Cambodia.
