Galveston to break ground for Royal Caribbean's Oasis-class terminal

An official groundbreaking ceremony for Royal Caribbean Group's $110m terminal at the Port of Galveston is set for Saturday.

The 170,000-square-foot facility will be able to handle Oasis-class ships, starting with Allure of the Seas, scheduled in November 2022.

Royal Caribbean-Ceres joint venture

It is a 50-50 venture between Royal Caribbean Group and Macquarie's Ceres Terminals, which is to manage the terminal and provide stevedoring services.

BA design to LEED standards

Designed by Bermello Ajamil & Partners, the facility will feature the latest technology, including mobile check-in and facial recognition, and is being planned to meet LEED certification standards.

Speakers scheduled for the ceremony  Galveston Port Director and CEO Rodger Rees, Royal Caribbean Group VP Destination Development Josh Carroll, Ceres CEO Craig Mygatt, Galveston Mayor Craig Brown and Galveston Wharves Chairman Albert Shannon.
