Global Ports Holding has been working to assist with earthquake relief efforts in Turkey since the early moments of the disaster, Chairman Mehmet Kutman said.

This includes shipments of fuel, food, beverages and various other needed items, working with public institutions and nongovernmental organizations.

'Trying to heal the wounds'

'We all feel the deep pain of the earthquake, which is one of the biggest humanitarian disasters of the century and affects a wide geography and more than 15 million people,' Kutman wrote in an email. 'We are trying to heal the wounds of this disaster together.'

GPH, which has Turkish origins, now operates 26 cruise ports in 14 countries with 16m passengers' throughput.

Earthquake relief desks at the ports

In an effort to provide shelter and required materials to those impacted, the company is setting up earthquake relief desks at the ports and welcomes donations.

According to GPH, all donations collected are going to the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies.
