Global Ports Holding Plc will operate Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, port of Arrecife in Lanzarote and Puerto del Rosario in Fuerteventura which have tenures of 40 years, 20 years and 20 years respectively.

The revelation follows a public tender process resulting in the Port Authority of Las Palmas being awarded preferred bidder status to Global Ports Canary Islands (GPCI) - an 80:20 joint venture between GPH and Sepcan S.L. to operate cruise port concessions for Las Palmas Cruise Ports.
Global Ports Holding, GPCI and the Port Authority of Las Palmas will now work towards agreeing on the terms of the concession agreements.
The concessions are expected to commence before the end of the current financial year.
Growth of cruise port network
‘I am thrilled that Global Ports Canary Islands has been awarded preferred bidder status for Las Palmas Cruise Ports,’ said Global Ports Holding CEO Emre Sayin. ‘We will work closely with the Port Authority of Las Palmas towards successful conclusion of the concession agreements.’
He went on to add that ‘Despite the challenges of the Covid-19 pandemic, GPH is continuing to deliver on its strategic ambitions of growing its cruise port network.’
The addition of Las Palmas Cruise Ports takes the total number of cruise ports operated by GPH to 22, increasing the cruise passenger capacity to over 15m passengers per year.
Among the busiest ports in Spain as well as Europe, Las Palmas ports receive a combined 1.5 passengers annually.
