Hapag-Lloyd Cruises’ Hanseatic Inspiration will embark on 26 expedition voyages in 2023/24, starting with the Great Lakes and St Lawrence River in North America before moving to Central and South America, Europe and the polar regions.

Bookings have opened with the below itineraries included:

Great Lakes and St Lawrence River

From October 8-26, 2023 the ship will for the first time combine the Great Lakes and St Lawrence River in a sailing from Milwaukee to Halifax. Calls include Mackinac Island, Parry Sound, Killarney/Lake Huron, Toronto/Lake Ontario and Quebec, with prices starting at £11,340 per person.

Fitted with retractable bridge wings suitable for locks and channels, in autumn 2023 and again in 2024 it will take passengers to the Great Lakes a total of four times.

Central and South America

Late next year, Hanseatic Inspiration will voyage from Colón, Panama to Valparaiso, Chile passing through the Panama Canal in a daytime passage, before reaching the Chilean fjords. The Gulf of San Miguel, Utria National Park, Colombia, Islas Guanape and Callao, Peru and Puerto Caldera, Chile also feature as part of the 15-day itinerary from November 3-17, 2023. Prices start at £7,480 per person.

From December 2023 to February 2024, the ship will be positioned in Antarctica, reaching Brazil in spring. From there, Hanseatic Inspiration will venture to the Amazon for the first time, where it will begin with two itineraries.

North and and Baltic seas

In May, 2024 the polar ice class 6 vessel will operate two cruises in the North and Baltic seas before the Arctic season gets underway, which will see Hanseatic Inspiration make multiple circumnavigations of Spitsbergen.

For the first time, passengers can set sail from Tromso in July 2024 aboard the ship, cruising to both Franz Josef Land and north-east Spitsbergen in one cruise. The ‘Premiere with the best of two Arctic worlds’ further includes cruising off North Cape and the islands of Storoya and Kvitoya, giving passengers the chance to explore remote territory, participate in hikes with polar experts, explore by Zodiac and if opportunity allows, observe walruses and whales. The voyage, starting at £11,700 per person, takes place July 25-August 8, 2024 with charter flights to Tromso and from Longyearbyen included. The ship will carry just 199 passengers when sailing in the regions of Antarctica and Spitsbergen.

From there, Iceland and Greenland feature on the cruise routes before the ship turns back to the Great Lakes in autumn 2024.

Hanseatic Inspiration

The 230-passenger Hanseatic Inspiration is one of three ships in the new expedition class from Hapag-Lloyd Cruises and caters for the international/English-speaking marketplace. The language aboard sister ships Hanseatic nature and Hanseatic spirit is German.
