Bermello Ajamil design

Miami-based Bermello Ajamil & Partners is behind the design development, including cruise terminal and parking garage design, as well as planning marine structure and civil improvements such as surface parking, access roads and utilities.

The groundbreaking event 'illustrated the port’s continued efforts to boost cruise tourism and the positive impacts to the local and regional communities, as well as MSC’s partnership pledge for environmental sustainability and community support,' according to Mark Ittel, director, ports & maritime, BA.

Passenger satisfaction, efficiency and cost-effectiveness

'... This facility is focused on passenger satisfaction, efficiency and cost effectiveness,' Ittel continued. 'Our ability to repurpose buildings, such as the Del Monte warehouse in Galveston, while also constructing a new parking ramp and ground transportation area, will result in a state-of-the-art cruise facility that both passengers and cruise brands will appreciate.'

BA also designed Galveston's $125m Royal Caribbean terminal that opened in 2022.
