Although involved with repatriation of crew and technical calls during the earlier part of this year, ‘it all started again at Cruise Port Rotterdam on September 21 with a call by Artania. The second call was on October 6/7 with Spirit of Adventure followed by Regal Princess, Hanseatic Spirit and Artania,' noted Hoogeweij, who celebrated his sixth anniversary at the company last month.

Maiden calls

Holland America Line's new Rotterdam (VII) berthed for the first time in her home port of Rotterdam on October 14.

The ship returns next spring for her naming by HRH Princess Margriet, aunt of King Willem-Alexander of the Netherlands.

Other maiden callers this year included Fred Olsen’s Bolette and, on Christmas Eve, AIDAnova.

Christmas on the quay

AIDAprima will be in port on Christmas Eve/Christmas Day. 'We will be celebrating Christmas together at the Cruise Terminal with a cruise ship on the quay,’ added a smiling Hoogeweij.
