Livorno opens new Port Centre; port-city development discussed

The official presentation of the new Livorno Port Centre was held this week at Fortezza Vecchia in the Italian port-city.

MedCruise associate Livorno Port Authority, plus AIVP, Assoporti and Livorno Port Center welcomed and guided guests around the technologically innovative center, led by Guiliano Gallanti, Commissioner of the Port Authority.

At a think tank workshop: Philippe Matthis, AIVP president, Eamonn o' Reilly (Port of Dublin, Ireland), Henk De Bruijn (Port of Rotterdam) and Gabriele Gargiulo (Port Authority of Livorno) presented different port centre case studies.

Next followed a round table discussing port-city development with participants including Umberto Masucci, from the International Propeller Club, Naples, Filippo Nogarin, mayor of Livorno, Gallanti, Matthis, and Philippe Demoulin from Port Center Lillo, Antwerp.

Patrick Verhoeven, ECSA secretary general gave the closing remarks.
