Before October 31, the line’s international cruises are open only to UK residents who have a permanent address in the country, comprehensive cruise insurance and a passport with at least six months’ validity.

Chris Hackney, MD cruise, TUI UK and Ireland said, ‘Greece and Spain have long been popular destinations for our customers ... Following the successful start of our first ever domestic sailings, we are delighted to announce our plans to restart our international cruising programme, with five new itineraries ...'

Marella Discovery

Between September and October, Marella Discovery will sail from Corfu on three new itineraries — ‘Aegean Shores,’ ‘Iconic Islands’ and ‘Aegean Discovery’ — calling at all Greek ports, including Santorini, Mykonos, Rhodes and Crete.

Marella Explorer 2

The adults-only ship will sail from Málaga on two new itineraries: ‘Continental Coasts’ comprises Palamos, Barcelona, Palma, Alicante and Almeria; ‘Spirit of Iberia’ includes stops at Valencia, Ibiza, Cartagena, Gibraltar and Cadiz.

Health and safety protocols

Hackney affirmed that ‘vaccination and testing protocols will remain in place’ on board the ships.

Both COVID-19 jabs at least 14 days before travelling will be required of those aged 18 years and older.

Those under 18 — excluding infants under the age of two who will not be able to sail — will need a lateral flow test.
