Marseille's laid-up cruise ships donate goods to charity

10 food and furniture donation operations were coordinated by the Marseille Provence Cruise Club in total last year, with the support of Marseille Marine Firemen, Customs, the Port of Marseille Fos Authority, the Marseille Provence Cruise Terminal (MPCT), the Region Prefecture Authority and local charities.

‘Cruise companies are at the very heart of the success of cruise operations in Marseille, whether through its stopovers at the cruise terminal (MPCT) or through its technical stops at the Shipyard of Marseille (Chantier Naval de Marseille),’ said Marseille Provence Cruise Club President Jean-François Suhas.

‘I feel deeply touched by all the implemented logistics and the links that have been forged by my team and the...concerned cruise companies and charities, as well as the port services and local authorities, to allow these meaningful operations. 

‘This reflects the spirit of solidarity and mutual aid of all the companies in the cruise sector at all levels.’

Operations at the Port of Marseille Fos

Since March 2020 to mid-January, the Port of Marseille Fos and Marseille Provence Cruise Terminal received 23 cruise ships; in March and April, more than 6,500 passengers and crew were repatriated from there.
