Antonio Martí head of promotion and communications for the Andalucia Tourist Board  urged visitors to ‘get lost in the streets. You are surrounded by history’.

He also noted the port's favourable location within the geography of the west Med. ‘It is often the last or first mainland Spanish port call on positioning cruises.’

He referred to Andalucia as being like a small country: ‘we have the best horses in the world.’ The area boasts historic cities such as Algeciras, Seville, the regional capital; Granada and Cordoba tempting many cruise visitors to Malaga on a day call to return to the region for a land-based saty.

Natalia Boveda, marketing executive for Costa del Sol Tourism; declared that Málaga, ‘has been growing for the past 15 years, including the port and the airport’, which enjoys seasonal non-stop flights from the US and plentiful air connections throughout Europe.’ She revealed the city is surrounded by over a 100 towns and small villages where it is possible to experience the culture, cuisine and lifestyle of the Andalucia.
