The ports authority for Costa Rica's Atlantic coast is giving Moffatt & Nichol about 12 months to produce feasibility studies for an upgraded cruise terminal and new marina at Limón.

JAPDEVA selected Moffat & Nichol to carry out technical, environmental and financial studies related to the design, construction, operation and maintenance of these projects at the Hernán Garrón Salazar Terminal.

To boost tourism and jobs

JAPDEVA aims to transform the terminal into a facilty that promotes national and regional tourism and generates employment by attracting more cruise ships along with recreational and sports vessels.

Before the COVID-19 pandemic, Limón was handling about 120 cruise calls carrying more than 200,000 passengers a year.
