MSC Cruises and Port of Helsinki cut ribbon on new cruise berth
MSC Cruises and Port of Helsinki cut ribbon April 30 inaugurating Port of Helsinki’s newly constructed berth for mega cruise ships. Senior executives from the cruise line and port attended the event.

The new LHD pier at the Hernesaari Dock accommodates vessels up to 360mtr in length.
Visiting cruise ships over 215mtr and more than 90% of all cruise passengers will berth at the Hernesaari facility.
Michele Francioni, MSC Cruises’ svp and Ville Haapasaari, ceo of Port of Helsinki, together cut the ribbon and officially opened the berth.
MSC Meraviglia is the first cruise ship to call at the new berth although the ship has made many previous visits to Helsinki.
Francioni said, ‘Northern Europe is a key area of focus and our ships call regularly in the Port of Helsinki during the summer season. Moving forward our aim is to increase our capacity in the region, deploying our most modern and environmentally sound tonnage.’
Ville Haapasaari, CEO of Port of Helsinki said, ‘Port of Helsinki is very proud to receive MSC Meraviglia as the first vessel to call our newest berth.’
Helsinki will receive regular calls from MSC Cruises ships during the summer season.
Regular routes across Northern Europe
On a bi-weekly basis, MSC Meraviglia sails on two routes to the Norwegian Fjords via Copenhagen and Stavanger, and to St. Petersburg via Copenhagen, Helsinki and Tallinn.
Recently MSC Cruises inaugurated a newly equipped co-branded terminal and a dedicated berth at the Port of Kiel.
