Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings and Bahamas leaders broke ground Friday on a cruise pier at Great Stirrup Cay.
Set for completion in fourth quarter 2025, this $150m project will allow two large ships to dock simultaneously.
Serving three brands
The pier will enhance ship accessibility for Norwegian Cruise Line, Oceania Cruises and Regent Seven Seas Cruises.
Pitching in at the groundbreaking were Bahamas Prime Minister Philip Davis, Deputy Prime Minister Chester Cooper, NCLH brass including CEO Harry Sommer and David Herrera, president of Norwegian Cruise Line and local dignitaries and stakeholders.
NCLH called it a 'transformational investment.'
As part of this development, the company is dedicating more than $45,000 in 2025 to educational programs, including scholarships, internships and field enhancements, benefiting local communities and fostering long-term growth.
